WASHINGTON, D.C. Tuesday March 3rd, 2020. Josh Malone, Inventor of Bunch O Balloons, Philanthropist and advocate for Inventor Rights AKA ‘Josh The Balloon Guy” announces sponsorship of the  “Make48 2020” inventing competition.

Make48 requires teams of inventors to plan, prototype and pitch a new idea for a specified industry – all within 48 hours. Throughout the Make48 competition, teams receive support from tool technicians and industry mentors, including some of America’s most successful product inventors.

According to recent research*: “Children that are born to parents in the top 1% of the income distribution are ten times as likely to become inventors as those born to families with below-median income. Whites are more than three times as likely to become inventors as blacks. And 82% of 40-year-old inventors today are men” (http://www.equality-of-opportunity.org/assets/documents/inventors_paper.pdf)

With statistics such as these Mr. Malone recognizes the need to invest and encourage innovation in the US. Mr. Malone states: “One of my goals is to make inventing available to everyone, from every background; to not only help decrease the gender gap between men and women inventors but to also help bolster the opportunities for minorities and individuals with limited resources who want to invent”.

Malone explains further: “America loves Inventors! America needs inventors. By sponsoring an event such as Make48 I hope to encourage and enable hope, for those who may not have the money, support or experience to do so.”

While Mr. Malone’s Bunch O Balloons became highly successful worldwide, he understands that not every inventor’s creation will generate the same traction and millions of dollars in sales that he achieved. Sponsoring events and opportunities such as these, allows Mr. Malone to help bolster independent US inventors, ultimately driving US to be a leader in innovation once more.

Josh Malone AKA ‘Josh The Balloon Guy’, quit his corporate job in 2006 to take his shot at the Inventor’s Dream. Eight years later, savings depleted and kids college unfunded, he took one last swing before trudging back to the corporate world. And hit a homerun with Bunch O Balloons. His solution to the 63 year old problem of filling and sealing water balloons instantly became the number one selling summer toy. His invention was stolen by a notorious infringer who convinced the USPTO to revoke his patent under a controversial procedure of the 2011 America Invents Act. A brutal and costly legal battle combined with a anti-corruption crusade ultimately resulted in a $31 million award and restoration of his patent rights. He is now a full time volunteer with the inventor advocacy organization, US Inventor.
